National Nutrition Month celebrated its 40th anniversary this past March. The theme for National Nutrition Month was “Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day” based on the USDA MyPlate guidelines. These guidelines include making half of your plate fruits and vegetables, using low fat or fat free dairy products, and cutting back on sodium and empty calories from fats and added sugars. During the month we served three meals that were part of this celebration including; Turkey Burger with carrots, vegetable pasta salad and fruit, Lemon Chicken with red skin potatoes, carrots and fresh fruit and last Tuna Salad with mixed greens, cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes and fruit.
