Welcome to the Livingston County Senior Nutrition Program where Nutrition Starts Here

The Meals On Wheels program, part of the 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Senior Nutrition Program, is designed to serve home-bound individuals in the Livingston County Area who are unable to plan, shop, or prepare meals for themselves due to illness, disability, or advanced age.

Our meals are prepared and packaged by the Senior Nutrition Program under strict dietary supervision. All of the meals we serve meet one-third of the daily nutritional needs of a senior adult and are approved by the Area Agency on Aging 1-B. Volunteer drivers then proceed along their well-diagramed route to deliver to our clients in homes and apartments within Livingston County Monday through Friday.  Our program serves home delivered and congregate meals to over 600 seniors in Livingston County every day.

We also provide hot lunches at the local senior centers. Senior centers offer Fellowship and socialization. Lunch and activities schedules vary by center. Call you local Senior Center to make lunch reservations.

Join Our Meals On Wheels Volunteer Team

Volunteers are the backbone of our Meals On Wheels program. Not only do they prepare and deliver meals to home-bound seniors in their local communities, but Meals On Wheels volunteers also provide the seniors they serve with companionship and a warm, friendly smile when they arrive at the door.

Our Meals On Wheels program has numerous volunteer opportunities. People of varied interests and abilities can help - whether they want to be hands-on or behind the scenes, and whether they can volunteer during the weekdays or only on evenings and weekends.

It's easy to sign up, we work around your schedule, and it's an excellent way to give back to your community.

National Nutrition Month celebrated its 40th anniversary this past March.  The theme for National Nutrition Month was “Eat Right, Your Way, Every Day” based on the USDA MyPlate guidelines. These guidelines include making half of your plate fruits and vegetables, using low fat or fat free dairy products, and cutting back on sodium and empty calories from fats and added sugars.  During the month we served three meals that were part of this celebration including;  Turkey Burger with carrots, vegetable pasta salad and fruit,  Lemon Chicken with red skin potatoes, carrots and fresh fruit and last Tuna Salad with mixed greens, cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes and fruit.  We hope that you enjoyed those meals that helped us to celebrate National Nutrition Month’s 40th anniversary!
